The Louisiana Dietetic Association's Manual of Medical Nutrition Therapy was developed as a guide for dietitians and foodservice personnel working in hospitals and long term care facilities.

It also serves as a guide to physicians in prescribing appropriate nutrition interventions in these institutions.

The purpose of the LDA Manual of Medical Nutrition Therapy is to provide practical information on routine diets and their modifications for a variety of nutritional needs.

ADA Student Council

The ADA Student Council is a national student organization within ADA formed to address student-related issues and increase peer networking. All current ADA student members are automatically Council members. The purpose of the ADA Student Council is to increase involvement of ADA student members by creating opportunities for leadership within the Association and to facilitate communications among student members and with the ADA leadership. The Student Council is represented by a Student Council Advisory Committee (SCAC). The SCAC consists of: Chair, Vice-chair, Student Delegate, CADE Student Representative and additional student representatives. ADA Student Council members will elect the SCAC annually. Each year SCAC will set goals and objectives consistent with ADA's strategic plan. Core functions of the SCAC will be to:
  • Promote the role of student members in dietetics-related areas.
  • Promote diverse membership.
  • Encourage the participation of students in ADA and in the Council.

SCAC will meet annually at the ADA Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo (FNCE) and participate in the planning of the Student Forum and newsletter content.

The creation of the ADA Student Council Community of Interest (CoI) is the first step towards uniting our student body. The CoI is a networking and information resource for ADA student members only. Dietetics is a vital, growing field open to creativity and many opportunities. The purpose of this CoI is to connect student members nationwide, provide a communication vehicle for our student representatives, allow student members to access cutting-edge information about the profession, useful Web sites and articles, to share ideas and more. If you haven't joined or heard about the CoI, or you are a new student member and the ADA has your current e-mail address, look for an invitation to join in your e-mail box soon, or ask a friend who has joined the CoI to send you an invitation.
