Manual of Medical Nutrition Therapy
The Louisiana Dietetic Association's Manual of Medical Nutrition Therapy was developed as a guide for dietitians and foodservice personnel working in hospitals and long term care facilities.

It also serves as a guide to physicians in prescribing appropriate nutrition interventions in these institutions.

The purpose of the LDA Manual of Medical Nutrition Therapy is to provide practical information on routine diets and their modifications for a variety of nutritional needs.

President's Message

Your Louisiana Dietetic Association Board is working diligently on member projects--Strategic Planning, political updating, and program planning. This work will support our members in today's ever changing environment.

A rewarding Strategic Planning session took place October 20th. The LDA Board was guided by Ted Carr, Strategic Planning Specialist, to look closely at our environment, identify nutrition related issues, look at opportunities, set goals, and develop an action plan. The resulting LDA Strategic Plan is summarized in this newsletter-be sure to sign on and offer your assistance!

LDA is working to update and renew our political strategy. A committee of the Federal LNC Charlotte Pursell, State LNC Kelly Phillips, President Elect Sandy Sutton, Allied Group Representative JoJo Dantone-DeBarbieris, and myself, is producing a lobbyist job description and will interview applicants soon. This will improve LDA's ability to maximize our political effectiveness.

The LDA Annual Meeting will take place in Lafayette, April 12 though April 13, 2007. Virginia Pelegrin, Project Coordinator, and the LDA Board are working to streamline the planning process of this meeting. The goal is to meet the learning needs of LDA members, as summarized in Louisiana member's learning codes. We are transitioning the program planning process to best meet this goal.

So, it has been a great year!

Karen Purvis, MS, RD, LD/N
