The major responsibility involves nutrition care management of veterans in an outpatient setting two days/month. Basic and advanced patient nutrition screening, assessment skills are required. The practice responsibilities also include a focus on communication with patients, family members, and members of the interdisciplinary team. In accordance to the parameters within the scope of practice the RD orders and reviews pertinent laboratory tests and documents test results and their pertinence and an assessment in the patient’s electronic medical record. The RD will prescribe regular/modified diets, supplemental nourishments, and enteral nutrition therapy. As deemed necessary, nutrition education classes will be conducted.

Graduate of an accredited school with a Baccalaureate Degree in nutrition. Must be registered with the CDR of the ADA. Also must have a valid license in the state of Louisiana.

Take Shape for Life (TSFL) is an Optimal Health Program designed and led by health professionals. Full training and support is provided to help you implement and run the program. The coaching can be done from your office or home by phone or email. This position may be done part-time or full-time.

Applicants must have an earned M.S. from an accredited university in nutrition, foodservice systems, or a closely-related area and be a Registered Dietitian or RD eligible. Applicants must have demonstrated people skills, experience in nutrition, food service systems, and in education, and be competent in using various methods of technology transfer. Previous teaching and career experience is expected. A PhD in nutrition, food systems or closely related area is preferred.

  • BS Degree with completion of the American Dietetic Association (ADA) Plan IV/V minimum academic requirements. Completion of ADA approved or accredited pre-professional work experience - dietetic internship, Coordinated Program, AP4 Program, dietetic traineeship or equivalent as specified for licensure in Louisiana.
  • At least 1 year experience teaching and providing care for pediatric patients.
  • Must demonstrate a strong clinical knowledge base, effective communication skills effective problem solving skills, ability to work flexible hours as necessary beyond a 40 hour work week, must have excellent assessment skills, and must have the ability to work within a team environment to ensure quality patient care.
