Please allow me to introduce myself as your new 2009-2010 LDA President. I am Jo Jo Dantone-Debarbieris, MS, RD, LDN, CDE. I have been a consultant dietitian since 1976… yes 33 years! I have lived in LaPlace, LA since 2001. I own Nutrition Education Resources, Inc., a company that provides Registered Dietitian services to health care institutions.
I have served LDA’s Board of Directors as the Allied Group Representative in 2007, as a member of the Public Policy Panel in 2008 and as an attendee at the Public Policy Workshop in Washington, DC for the past 6 years. I have served ADA as a member of the ADA Political Action Committee (PAC) and as a member of the Legislative and Public Policy Committee (LPPC). I am Past-Chair of the Consultant Dietitians in Health Care Facilities (CDHCF) Dietetic Practice Group (DPG) and I currently serve as the Public Policy Liaison with the Diabetes Care and Education (DCE) DPG.
My goals for serving as your LDA President include:
| . |
To support our LDA membership with an open door policy, so please feel free to call or email me at any time with your comments or concerns. |
| . |
To operate LDA as a transparent organization – all members are invited to audit Board of Directors (BOD) meetings. Calendar of meeting are posted on our website. |
| . |
To develop purpose driven agendas at BOD meetings. |
| . |
To delegate responsibilities to the BOD so that opinions of all districts and members are represented. |
| . |
To lead LDA in establishing a “brand” that will be well recognized and respected in the public. |
Recently I was allowed to attend the ADA Leadership Institute (LI) as a representative of LDA. Thank you for allowing me to take part in such a powerful and motivating experience. Here are just four important reasons why my LI attendance was valuable to LDA. I learned:
| . |
“Exceptional Leadership” is the ability to initiate change with and through other people. |
| . |
To go quickly – go alone. To go far – go together. |
| . |
Our organization succeeds or fails gradually, then suddenly, one conversation at a time. |
| . |
People want to know they make a difference; small encouragements can make tremendous differences. |
Again, thank you for your vote of confidence. I will give you my best! Here is my contact information:
